Welcome to Dana Point
The idyllic city of Dana Point has a little bit of everything: a tranquil harbor, wide swaths of gorgeous beaches and surfing spots, ample conservation areas and parks, and plenty of retail, all tucked along a scenic cliffside in the southern portion of Orange County. Just north of San Clemente but still midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, Dana Point enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate that keeps average temps around 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s also located far enough out from the cities to maintain a peaceful, ocean-side environment.
Though the city wasn’t incorporated until 1989, it has a rich history of development that dates back to its importance as a port for ships in the California hide trade. As more people realized what this beautiful little area could become, the Dana Point Syndicate—led by Sidney Woodruff and sponsored by some of the biggest names in Hollywood at the time—was created in the 1920s to build a residential oasis here.
Modern-day Dana Point is home to around 34,000 residents who have the luxury of choosing from an array of architectural styles. Dana Point is well-known for its often palatial, multi-million dollar estates right on the beach, set up on the cliffs, and full of amenities. However, the area also has plenty of modern, single-floor condos and impressive townhomes built in quiet neighborhoods.
